The Jodhpur court on Monday sent controversial godman Asaram Bapu, who is facing allegations of sexual assault on a minor, to 14-day judicial custody in connection with the case.
The court sent him to judicial custody since the Jodhpur police said that their investigation against the spiritual leader was complete.
Confirming the development, a senior police official said, “Asaram has been sent to judicial custody till September 15."
His bail application will now come up for hearing tomorrow. While coming out of the court, the self-styled godman asked his followers “to be patient.”

An Indian woman author who wrote a popular memoir about her escape from the Taliban has been shot dead in Afghanistan`s Paktika province by suspected militants.
Married to an Afghan businessman, Sushmita Banerjee, 49, was killed outside her home.
The book about her dramatic escape in 1995 became a best-seller in India and was made into a Bollywood film in 2003.
Her husband and other members of the family were tied up by Taliban militants at her home. The militants dragged her out and shot her. They later dumped her body near a school.

Barack Obama`s proposal on Syria won the approval of a US Senate committee as he repeated that the ‘red line’ set for the use of chemical weapons, was not “made up” by him but it was set by the world.
The US Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday passed the Syria resolution by a 10-7 vote, authorising the use of limited military force for a time limit of 60 days, extendable to one month on conditions.
The resolution is now slated for a full Senate vote next week and if approved it will be up for voting in the House of Representatives.

A series of coordinated blasts in Baghdad on Wednesday and other violence killed at least 67 people in Iraq, the latest in a months-long surge of bloodshed that Iraqi security forces are struggling to contain.
Many of those killed were caught up in a string of car bombings that tore through the Iraqi capital early in the evening as residents were out shopping or heading to dinner.

Fifty-six members of Muslim Brotherhood were on Tuesday sentenced, including 11 to life imprisonment, by an Egyptian military court on charges of acts of "aggression" against the Army in Suez city last month.
In the first such sentencing since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi on July 3, the Suez military court sentenced 11 Islamists to 25 years in jail, while 45 others were given five years. Eight others were acquitted.
The Islamists were accused of assaulting army troops, burning military vehicles, throwing Molotov cocktails and attacking churches in Suez governorate following the August 14 military crackdown on pro-Morsi sit-ins in Cairo and Giza.
Anti-apartheid icon Nelson Mandela remains critical but he is responding to treatment at home, South African President Jacob Zuma said on Tuesday, days after the 95-year-old statesman was discharged after nearly three months in a hospital.
"We feel very good... That he could leave hospital which indicates the progress he has made," Zuma told editors at a breakfast briefing in Pretoria.
"You have heard that Tata Madiba (Mandela`s clan name) left hospital for his home...He remains critical but stable, responding to treatment," he said.
It is the first time that Zuma has commented on the status of former democracy hero since he was discharged from hospital at the weekend.

The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) Bill, 2011, was passed in the Rajya Sabha with 115 MPs voting in favour and 25 against including members form Left parties and TMC. The bill was passed in the Lok Sabha on September 4.
