Agar: Commotion gripped the Madhya Pradesh Congress ahead of Assembly Elections when a party leader allegedly committed suicide after being denied a ticket to contest polls on November 25.

According to reports, leader from Agar, Narsingh Malviya, consumed poison and was taken to a hospital in Ujjain.

The district Panchayat member was later declared dead.

Malviya, who has been associated with Congress for quite a long time, hoped to contest polls from Agar. However, the party gave ticket to another candidate, Madhu Gehlot, dashing Malviya's hopes.

The Congress released its second list containing names of 82 candidates last night

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress vice-president Manak Agrawal stepped down to protest party ticket to former Union minister Suresh Pachouri, whom he accused of corruption.

Pachauri will contest from Bhojpur constituency and face BJP's sitting MLA Surendra Patwa.

Chief Electoral Office sources said that a total of 414 nominations have been filed so far for the Madhya Pradesh Assembly Elections.
