I am sure the BJP leader was mocking on the topic, because if he wasn’t then it is matter of serious concern. Everyone can do and live as one wishes but the place definitely cannot be our legislatures. What am I talking about? I am talking about the ministers in the Karnataka Assembly who were caught on camera watching porn while the house was in session. Two ministers of the BJP government, Lakshman Savdi and CC Patil, were found to be watching porn clips on the former’s cell phone. Both occupied important positions in the cabinet of their state.
Lakshman Savdi held the Co-operation portfolio whereas CC Patil was the minister for Women and Child Development ministry. Interesting portfolios one must say. Co-operation minister in co-operation with cabinet colleague was having a gala time when important discussions were being held on the floor of the house. Apparently, according to media reports the house was discussing a very sensitive issue, about raising
a Pakistani flag at Sindagi in Bijapur district.
Following denial, the excuse these ‘honourable’ ministers have given for frolicking in such activities is hilarious. Lakshman Savadi was quoted as saying, “Yes it is like a blue film. It was on Minister for Ports Krishna Palemar's mobile. The video clippings had women dancing and they were raped by four men. Palemar told me such things happen abroad in rave parties. Since the House was discussing the Malpe rave party, I watched it.”
The statement seemed reminiscent of today’s politicians. The reasoning looked so childish. They need visual references and demonstrations to understand what RAPE means! Are they sure they couldn’t have come up with a better explanation?
The ministers did not even have the courtesy to take ownership, appologise for their act and resign immediately. A lot of fracas and embarrassment for the ruling BJP ensued. So ultimately heads rolled and the “respected” ministers had the unwanted courtesy to tender their resignation.
Thanks to the media… for highlighting this disgraceful happening. The mass choose leaders so that they can work ‘FOR’ the people but after this shocking disclosure, the sinful minds of these ministers are in open.
The media faced the brunt for uncovering the truth in front of the public eye and it was boycotted by the probing commission.
Following the fracas, the house decided to stop all private channels from airing the proceedings. Now they want to set up their own cameras so that the leaders can show us only what they want.
Every time an election takes place an obscene amount of money is spent to conduct it. A common man elects his leader with utmost faith and sends him to the assembly, but feels cheated when he comes across such shameless incidents. They want these politicians to make legislations which will make their lives easier and the state proud. But sadly ends up feeling hopeless!
Alas! Our legislative houses have been used for purposes which can be described as non-legislative. The vivid memories of Uttar Pradesh Assembly where leaders were throwing mikes and beating each other up have still not faded. There were more such incidents like ransacking of the Bihar Assembly, tearing up the Lokpal Bill and now indulging in such a sleazy antic. Please… dear politicians, if you cannot respect the sanctity of the house please have some respect for the people who have helped you reach where you currently are.
