Chennai: German commercial vehicle maker Daimler has begun shipment of left-hand drive Fuso trucks to Cambodia, making the country its 13th global market.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicle (DICV), a subsidiary of Daimler AG along with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, exports Fuso trucks to various markets including Kenya, Sri Lanka and Zambia.

"While the current export markets were right-hand drive vehicles, the Cambodian market requires left-hand drive vehicles. With that, DICV once again shows its flexibility to cater to specific customer's needs," the company said in a statement.

The first set of vehicles have been retailed and delivered to customers, it said.

DICV currently produces above nine to 49 tonne trucks for the Indian market, under the brand BharatBenz. It has a production plant at Oragadam, near here, spread over 400 acres (160 hectares).

DICV made an initial investment of Rs 4,400 crore for the manufacturing unit and made another Rs 425 crore for the bus plant which was inaugurated last month.
