Domestic passenger traffic at Indian airports increases: Economic Survey

New Delhi: India`s Economic Survey Friday showed a healthy increase of 7.1 percent in the domestic passenger traffic handled at the Indian airports during April-December 2014-15.

According to the survey which was tabled in the parliament by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, the domestic passenger count at the Indian airports during the period under review stood at 101.34 million passengers.

While, international passenger traffic handled at airports had increased by 10.3 percent at 36.74 million during the period under review.

The survey which was tabled a day ahead of the national budget for 2015-16, showed an increase of 8.3 percent in the international cargo throughput at Indian airports which stood at 1.17 million metric tonnes (MMT).

The domestic cargo throughput during April-December, 2014-15 grew by 19.3 percent and stood at 0.74 MMT.
