With Android becoming one of the biggest target for hackers, Google and Samsung will soon be releasing monthly security updates for their Android phones.

In what Google terms as the single largest software update the world has ever seen, the tech giants will be releasing a security for the Stagefright flaw in Android.

"My guess is that this is the single largest software update the world has ever seen," Adrian Ludwig, lead engineer for Android security at Google said.

"Hundreds of millions of devices are going to be updated in the next few days. It's incredible," he added.

All Nexus devices will be patched first followed by devices from Samsung, LG and others.

“The first security update of this kind began rolling out today, Wednesday August 5th, to Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7, Nexus 9, Nexus 10, and Nexus Player,” according to a blog post by Adrian Ludwig.

Samsung, as the largest maker of Android phones, will also be rolling the security updates against 'Stagefright' virus on a monthly basis.
