Singapore: Tata Communications is expanding its recently launched Media Ecosystem globally, combining traditional video contribution services with IP-based connectivity to create a highly innovative global media platform.

"It will provide a virtualised infrastructure, the acquisition, management and redistribution of content on global basis," said Brian Morris, Vice President & General Manager for Global Media & Entertainment Services at Tata Communications.

The Media Ecosystem, which combines traditional video contribution services with IP-based connectivity to create a highly innovative global media platform, was launched in April this year.

The new ecosystem enables seamless global transport and management of content as a cloud-based managed service and supports global media distribution requirements, OTT and mobility applications.
"We are getting extremely positive feedback from customers," Morris told PTI today at the broadcast and communication conferences and exhibition held in Singapore.

"A big customers at the show have asked us to show proof of concept and demonstrate on their live systems," he said, disclosing that it is the first time the media ecosystem was being demonstrated in Asia Pacific at the BroadcastAsia2015 and CommunicAsia2015 here.

Asked if the media ecosystem can be used by the Indian film industry, Morris said it is the first of its kind in the world and is designed for the video-based media assets.

But he pointed that the system is still in the early days, and "we keep learning applications daily".
Morris felt the films was one area to explore, adding "We can help them (the film industry) manage the content."

Additionally, the Media Ecosystem will also be hosted on Tata's existing data centres elsewhere to expand services to the North America and Central Europe.

Further expansion will continue on case basis, said Morris.
