Celebs taking to twitter- Are there big bucks behind it?

New Delhi: Celebrities in India are now earning in lakh by endorsing brands on twitter. The 140 character endorsement has a handsome fee that the companies and the celebrities agree upon, as per a news report in a financial daily.

The Economic Times has reported that celebrities across entertainment, fashion and sports genre have found a “new revenue stream through Twitter”. They get paid anything between Rs 1 and 5 lakh per tweet endorsement.

The revenue model involves posting messages in support of brands and getting paid per tweet. ET said, the tweets by these celebrities cover a host of product launches, “new restaurants, television shows, spas, holiday destinations, even weddings”.

Celebrities who have got into the twitter brand promotion are Sonakshi Sinha, Saina Nehwal , Kapil Sharma, Yuvraj Singh, Neha Dhupia and Atul Kasbekar.
