Shah Rukh Khan- The uncrowned King of controversies

Lovingly called the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’, this self-made personality has walked miles in his two decade long career in the world of showbiz. Shah Rukh Khan, who is an iconic figure among the NRIs and a superstar loved by millions at home, has had a tough time this year. The year 2012 looks jinxed for him in a sense that he has courted trouble for himself more often than not.

Quite uncanny to his stature of being a non-controversial personality in the initial phase of his career, SRK has indeed let a number of unpleasant happenings tarnish his spotless image.

Here’s taking a look at some of the major controversies he has been involved with:

SRK-Salman

SRK and Salman who have acted in three films together- Karan Arjun, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai were once thick friends. Problems arose between the two apparently because of Aishwarya Rai, who happens to be Salman’s ex-girlfriend. SRK had reportedly made derogatory comments about Aishwarya during a party in 2008 that irked Salman. Since then two have been at logger heads and leave no opportunity to put each other down.

SRK-Aamir

Though Aamir and Shah Rukh haven’t had a major showdown, the contemporaries don’t share a great camaraderie. Aamir and Shah Rukh’s arch rival Salman are best friends and hence the two don’t get along all that well. Even recently when Aamir was asked to speak about Bollywood actors hosting TV shows, the perfectionist refrained from talking about SRK’s stint on TV. That goes to show that these two Khans have little to do with each other!

Shah Rukh Khan-Abhijeet

Playback singer Abhijeet who has delivered a number of hit songs by becoming the voice of Shah Rukh Khan has decided he would never sing for him ever again. Reason- the actor had apparently not paid due respect to him by running his name in credit scroll in the beginning of his film ‘Main Hoon Na’. Moreover, Abhijeet also had issues with the montage used at the end that showed the making of the film including the spots boys and had visual reference of the playback singers.

SRK-US Airport

The actor was detained twice in the US Airport for over two hours because of his last name. That probably inspired him to team up with Karan Johar to make ‘My Name Is Khan’ that dragged him into yet another controversy.

SRK-Shiv Sena

SRK irked Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray by saying that he would like to have Pakistani players in the Indian Premier League season 3, that was scheduled after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The Shiv Sainiks subsequently stalled the screening of his film ‘My Name Is Khan’ that turned out to be extremely unpleasant.

SRK smoking in Jaipur stadium

Workaholic Shah Rukh Khan happens to be a chain smoker who has tried to give up smoking on number of occasions. But his weakness landed him in trouble recently. A complaint was filed against the actor in the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate in Jaipur for smoking inside the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, during an IPL match.

SRK-Priyanka Chopra, Gauri rift

Shah Rukh was the only actor until the late 1990s who was never linked to any of his female co-stars. He was a “one woman man” until Priyanka Chopra made an entry into his life. Reportedly, Priyanka and Shah Rukh were having an affair that threatened to rock his marriage with Gauri. In fact Gauri has been missing from the stands in the ongoing IPL season.

SRK-Shirish Kunder brawl

Shah Rukh Khan’s midnight brawl with close friend Farah Khan’s husband, Shirish Kunder made headlines for days. The editor-director had apparently made lewd comments about SRK’s ‘RA.One’. That led to a scuffle between the two and SRK had reportedly slapped Shirish in a fit of rage.
