Bangalore: Rebel trouble has cropped up for the ruling BJP in Karnataka ahead of the May 5 Assembly polls.
The BJP's second list of 35 candidates has led to Malur MLA SN Krishnaiah Setty and MLC Shashil Namoshi issue threats of contesting as independent candidates. Not just that, supporters of KGF MLA Y Sampangi also held protests outside the state BJP office here.
The BJP excluded Setty's name from the second list following its policy of not giving tickets to those who have been to jail. Setty in turn threatened that he would fight in the elections as an independent if not given BJP ticket.
Namoshi too threatened to go the 'independent' way if denied ticket from Gulbarga South. Namoshi claims he has been working for the constituency ever since he was defeated in the by-election. The BJP has named Dattatreya Patil Revoor from Gulbarga South.
While Sampangi didn't issue any such threat, he did send his supporters to the state BJP office on Wednesday to protest and create pressure.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar said that the party will take a final call on their nomination soon.
