Panaji: No case of disproportionate assets is made out against Goa Assembly Speaker Rajendra Arlekar in connection with purchase of a land plot here, as alleged by social activist Aires Rodrigues, the ACB told a court here.
In their reply submitted to the court on Saturday, Superintendent of Police (ACB) Bosco George quashed charges against the Speaker in the land deal case.
Rodrigues, in a case filed with the special court of Anuja Prabhudesai, had demanded inquiry into the purchase of a plot costing Rs 72 lakh at Porvorim, by the Speaker.
The submission made by ACB before the court mentions that they have conducted a preliminary inquiry into the complaint and have found no substance in it.
The case would now be heard on March 6 by the special court.
Refuting the allegations, Arlekar had earlier said that all the money paid to purchase the 500 sq mtrs plot was through legal source and even had pointed out to the bank loan, which he had procured to buy it.
