Zee Media Bureau/Chaitan PapnaiDhaka: Before entering the fifth edition of World Twenty20, Team India had been playing poor cricket. In fact, there had been a huge dip in their performance since December 2013.
But India started their World Twenty20 campaign on a good note. They have won their first two matches comprehensively against arch-rivals Pakistan and defending champions West Indies.
In both the matches, Indian spinners played crucial roles to bundle out the opponents cheaply, after inviting them to bat first.
India have three front-line spinners in the from of R Ashwin, Ravinder Jadeja and Amit Mishra. And all three are getting fair assistance from turning tracks of Bangladesh.
Ashwin bowled well with the new ball so far and stopped the batsmen from breaking the shackles early on. Whereas, Mishra and Jadeja provided India crucial breakthroughs at regular intervals to keep the opponents reeling.
Amit Mishra has been outstanding in both the matches. The diminutive leg-spinner used his variations with good effect. Even reputed batsmen in the shortest format of the game are finding it difficult to read him and score off his bowling. From googly to flipper to leg-break, everything is working for Mishra. For his fine bowling he was rewarded with consecutive Man of the Match awards.
Not to forget, India also have more than handy part-time spinners in Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma and Suresh Raina.
Indian spinners have to keep exploiting the favourable conditions to give India their second World Twenty20 title.
