Mumbai: India U-19 team returned home to a grand welcome on Tuesday after winning the ICC World Championship held in Australia by defeating the hosts on Sunday.
The team, led by Unmukt Chand, defeated defending champion Australia in the final by six wickets lifting the cup for the third time.
Triumphant team skipper Unmukt Chand, who slammed a match-winning unbeaten century in the summit clash against Australia, was the first to come out of the Shivaji Chhatrapati International airport terminal, holding aloft the trophy.
Beside hordes of supporters, spinner Harmeet Singh's relatives and friends were present in big numbers at the airport, to greet the team.
The team members are to be felicitated by the Cricket Board at a function later this evening.
Chand led from the front in the final slamming an unbeaten ton that guided India successfully in their chase of 226 runs.
A press conference has been scheduled with captain and coach B Arun on addressing the media on Tuesday.
