Sydney: The Australian media has defended the Australian national cricket team’s selectors’ chairman John Inverarity and said that instead of blaming him for the fiasco in India, the public should look into the faults of the non-quality batsmen and lacklustre bowling attack of the Oz team.
According to the media, instead of pointing fingers at Inverarity and the selectors, the public should be questioning the performance of the batsmen and praying for the emergence of a great spinner, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
The report further added that the Australian squad playing in India is struggling to perform in conditions in which it is no match for its rivals.
Inverarity has proved himself an outstanding leader and thinker within Australian cricket, but this is his greatest challenge.
Although he is not infallible, but neither is he the buffoon his critics are portraying him as and among the available Australian cricket brains it is hard to think of one better equipped for the rigours of this torrid time, the report added.
