Centurion: Statistical highlights on the fifth and final day of the first cricket Test between India and South Africa here on Monday.
India’s total of 459 is their seventh highest in the third innings of a Test match when they have lost a Test match - the highest being 510 against England at Leeds in June 1967.
India (459) have recorded their highest total against South Africa in South Africa, obliterating the 414 at Cape Town in 2006-07.
For the fifth time in a Test match, Sachin Tendudlkar (37 and 111 not out) has top-scored in both the innings of a Test match.
Tendulkar has top-scored on 47 occasions in a Test innings. Tendulkar’s 50th hundred is his fourth in South Africa. England’s Wally Hammond and Australia’s Neil Harvey had also posted four hundreds against South Africa in South Africa.
South Africa’s well-deserved win is their 12th in 25 Tests against India - lost six and drawn seven - winning per ecent 48.00. South Africa have won 38, lost 23 and drawn 20 out of 81 played under Smith’s leadership - success per cent 46.91.
Jacques Kallis has received the Man of the Match award 21 times - the most by any player, extending his world record.
Kallis’ last MOM award was against Bangladesh for claiming five wickets in the match at Dhaka in February 2008.
Kallis is one of the three South African all-rounders to record a double century and capture two wickets in the same Test match - the first two were Aubrey Faulkner against Australia at Melbourne in 1910-11 and Eddie Barlow against Australia at Adelaide in 1963-64.
South Africa’s well-deserved vicory in the Centurion Test is their fourth by an innings margin against India - their first against India at home.
India have won 13, lost three and drawn six out of 22 played under Dhoni’s captaincy - winning per cent 59.09.
India’s aforesaid score is the highest when they have lost by an innings margin.
