CSA considering four contenders to handle Proteas` Test reins
Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa (CSA) is reportedly considering four contenders to handle the reins of their Test team for filling the massive vacancy left by former national Test captain Graeme Smith.

South Africa ODI captain AB de Villiers and Twenty20 skipper Faf du Plessis are reportedly being considered to spearhead the Test team with their next assignment in the format to take place against Sri Lanka in July.

South Africa`s senior batsman Hashim Amla and all-rounder JP Duminy are also speculated to be considered as Smith`s successors for the nation`s Test format, Sport24 reported.

Andrew Hudson `s selection panel will reportedly give their recommendations for South Africa`s Test captaincy to the CSA Board for its final approval before the board`s next meeting, which will take place early in June.

CSA is taking an intelligent enough approach by considering a bigger list of candidates for the Test captaincy than just De Villiers and Du Plessis, the report added.
