New Delhi: New manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Mauricio Pochettino has said last summer`s star signing Erik Lamela will come good this season.

The AS Roma player signed in the summer of 2013 to join the White Hart Lane club for fee believed to be in the region of £25.7m. However, he failed to impress in his debut season in London. The 22-year-old made only 9 appearences in the league, out of which, 6 were as a substitute.

This season, Lamela seems to be turning a new page in his career in England with an impressive start. He set up both Tottenham goals as they completed a comeback win over Limasol in the Europa League.

Speaking of the Argentinian, Pochettino said: "He was very disappointed about last season but the past is the past," said Pochettino after Thursday`s win. It is never easy in the first season for a player from another country. He was injured, too, and we are confident that with time and hard work, like he has done in pre-season, he can go far. We need him to look forward, believe in his skill and condition and work very, very hard".

Lamela was signed as a marquee player by Daniel Levy after they sold Gareth Bale for a world record fee to Real Madrid. However, his 1 goal since moving to club has not justified the big money Tottenham spent on Lamela.

With a good start to season so far that included critical contributions from the Argentina player, Tottenham and manager Pochettino are hopeful that Erik Lamela can silence all critics this year.
