Louisville: Top-ranked Rory McIlroy botched a chip and made bogey at the 12th hole to settle for a three-way share of the lead in Saturday`s third round of the PGA Championship.
McIlroy, who won the British Open three weeks ago for his third major title, birdied the 10th to seize the lead but went over the green on his approach to 11 and then fluffed a chip shot, leaving the ball in the dense grass.
The reigning British Open champion got up and down from there but fell to one-under for the round and 10-under for the tournament, level for the lead with Americans Rickie Fowler and Ryan Palmer.
Fowler, this year`s US and British Open runner-up, birdied the 10th hole to also stand on 10-under.
Palmer sank a 33-foot birdie putt at the par-3 12th to reach 10-under.
South Africa`s Louis Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open champion, closed with back-to-back birdies for a four-under par 67 that gave him the clubhouse lead on nine-under 204.
Also on the course at nine-under were Australian Jason Day, American Jim Furyk, Finland`s Mikko Ilonen and Austrian Bernd Wiesberger.
Morning rains helped soften the course and make greens receptive, perfect scoring conditions in which leaders thrived.
