American football’s ‘fastest man’ Johnson believes he could beat Bolt in 40-yard raceWashington: Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson, who is widely regarded as American football’s fastest man, has said he could beat the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt in a short race.

Johnson said Bolt is the greatest athlete to participate ever in the Olympics, but added that he could beat him in a 40 yard dash.

“He is a great athlete. I think he`ll be the best track athlete to ever compete in the Olympics,” The New York Daily News quoted Johnson, as saying.

“I feel like if I would have kept training for track I`d have a chance (to beat Bolt), but I play football and he runs track, so it`s totally different,” he added.

“I think I could still probably beat him in the 40 (yard dash, a common measure of NFL speed). If I actually trained for the distance he trained for, I think I`d have a chance,” he said.

Johnson said his fastest time in the 100 meters as a high school track star was 10.3. Bolt`s London time was 9.63 and his world record still stands at 9.58.

Johnson ran a 4.24 at his NFL Scouting Combine 40-yard dash back in 2008, the fastest ever since the league implemented electronic timing.
