London: Indian boxer Manoj Kumar stormed into the pre-quarterfinals by defeating Turkmenistan’s Serdar Hudayberdiyev 13-7 in the Men’s Light Welter (64 kg) category.
After the first round, both the boxers were leveled at 2-2. But Manoj Kumar took a decisive lead in the second round. After the second round he was leading 7-3.
In the third round, Kumar dominated the proceedings and wrapped up the match in his favour.
It was a good day for the Indian boxers as L Devendro Singh also made a sensational debut in the Olympics, storming into the pre-quarterfinals of men`s light fly weight category (49kg) in just two minutes and 24 seconds.
