London Olympics Rowing: Virk 4th in singles sculls heats, to fight in repechageLondon: India`s Swarn Singh Virk finished fourth in the heats of the single sculls event of rowing competition in the London Olympics here today.

Virk, who took 6:54.04 to complete the 2km distance in heat number one at Eton Dorney Rowing Centre, will compete in the repechage round tomorrow to see if he can advance further.


Tim Maeyens of Belgium won the heat in 6:42.52 while Fournier Rodriguez of Cuba and Patrick Loliger Salas of Mexico were second and third in 6:46.35 and 6:46.35 respectively. The top three directly qualifies for the quarterfinal round.


Other two Indian rowers, Manjeet Singh and Sandeep Kumar, will compete in the lightweight double sculls and they start their campaign from Sunday.
