Sports: Triple Jump

Renjith Maheshwary (men’s triple jump): Triple jumper Renjith Maheshwary managed a leap of 16.85m in his fifth attempt on the opening day of 16th Federation Cup Senior National Athletics Championships in Patiala to achieve the `B` standard for the London Olympics.

The jump also fetched him a gold medal in the competition.

Renjith holds the Indian national record in triple jump of 17.07m, which he achieved in a bronze medal winning effort at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
