Ankita Das, born on 17th july 1993, hails from Siliguri, Bengal. Currently ranked 4th in India, this would be her first appearance at the Olympics.
Under the guidance of national coach Bhawani Mukherjee, she has improved a lot in the past few months.
The 19-yr old played a nerve wracking match defeating her counterpart K Shamini in the South Asian qualifiers in Hong Kong which ensured her berth in Indian Olympic squad. She relies heavily on backhand counters and top spins which are her strengths.
