Women’s Archery Updates:
2nd Update:World No. 1 Deepika Kumari was off to a bad start at London Olympics 2012 as she finished eighth in the women's Individual 70m ranking round in London on Friday. Hours after South Korea`s Im Dong-hyun claimed the first of world records of the London Olympics, their domination continued in the archery event as Ki Bo Bae finished with at the top. Deepika ended with 662 points, while Bo Bae scored 671.
1st Update: After the men's, the women's team and individual archery ranking rounds have also started before the opening ceremony which is scheduled to be held in a few hours.

India’s Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Chekrovolu Swuro are participating in the event.
Men's Archery Update

1st UpdateSouth Korea have claimed the first two world records in the men's Archery ranking round. Im Dong-hyun broke his own individual record for 72 arrows and joined Kim Bubmin and Oh Jin-hyek to set a new team mark for 216 arrows.

Among the Indians, Tarundeep Rai scored 664 points from 72 shots to finish at a disappointing 31st position. Rahul Banerjee finished at 46th with 655 points, followed by Jayanta Talukdar (53rd) with 650 points. India finished last in a 12-team event.
The Met Office is forecasting a mainly fine and dry evening in London, the Daily Telegraph reports.
Archery competition “ranking round” taking place behind closed door at Lord's Cricket ground. BBC reports, public waiting outside the venue without knowing it was not open to public. “But the London 2012 website advertised today's round as "unticketed”. Many spectators interpreted that as open to the public and have arrived expecting to get in.”
This is probably the best ever Indian contingent as their shooters, archers, shuttlers, wrestlers and boxers all look good. Indian athletes are supremely confident of returning with the richest medal haul from the Olympic Games.
History awaits London 2012, so are the athletes. Usain Bolt is set to become the first athlete to defend 100m and 200m titles, while American swimmer Michael Phelps is two short of equalling Soviet gymnast Larisa Latynina’s 18 medals won over three Olympics.
