18-hole golf course comes up in Hyderabad around Golkonda fort
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Golf Association on Saturday inaugurated its 18 holes golf course with "world class" fair-ways and greens that is spread over 140 acres in and around the famous Golkonda fort.

HGA termed it as India`s only `heritage golf course` with all the 18 holes, 6000+ yards and Par 71 over TifDwarf and Calcutta Dhoop grass.

HGA started developing the course in 2002, which was once a garbage dump yard lay, and transformed it into "an eco-friendly" golf course without using any heavy machinery.

Treated sewage water is being used for irrigating the golf course. A few water bodies in the area have been revived and over 3,000 trees planted.

Many rare birds species have made a comeback to the area.

HGA President J Vikramdev Rao said: "We will be aiming to bring some of the prestigious International Golf Tournaments to Hyderabad, backed with this state of the art golf course."
