Aditya Joshi misses bronze, two other Indians enter Youth Olympic finals
Nanjing: Indian shuttler Aditya Joshi missed out on a medal as he lost 17-21 16-21 to Anthony Sinisuka of Indonesia in the bronze play-off in men`s singles event in the second Youth Olympic Games here Friday.

Javelin thrower Pushpa Jakhar and 1500m runner Ajay Kumar Saroj raised India`s hopes of a medal as they qualified for the `A` finals in the athletics events.

Pushpa improved her personal best to 50.21m in today`s qualification round to finish sixth among 18 participants.

Ajay Kumar won his 1500m heats with a personal best of 3:51.71 to qualify for finals.

Tomorrow, three Indians -- 110m hurdler Maymo Poulose, discus thrower Mithra Varun and 5,000m race walker K T Neena -- will be competing in the finals.

Maymon and Varun booked their places in the finals yesterday while Neena`s 5,000m race walk event will be a direct final.

India are being represented by 32 athletes and they have won one medal so far through weightlifter Ragala Venkat Rahul yesterday.
