Bhopal: Appalled over the poor condition of
women`s Hockey team, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj
Singh Chouhan today announced to bear entire expenses of the
team like their men`s counterpart.
"I have offered to bear the entire expenses of the
Women`s Hockey Team which is a national game like their men`s
counterpart," Singh told reporters when his attention was
drawn towards the reports of pathetic condition of the women`s
hockey team practising for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in
Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre.
The women members of the team have not received any dues
since April 2008.
The team comprising 40 members (core group) have also
opened an account with the Syndicate Bank to raise a charity
fund for helping the needy players and have also provided Rs
20,000 to a team member, E Rajni whose father needed it for
kidney operation.
Meanwhile, Chouhan has also sent a cheque of Rs 50,000 to
Rajni`s father for his kidney operation.
Chouhan also said he will write a letter to the Union
Sports Minister, M S Gill to create an institutional mechanism
so that states can directly contribute in it for providing
financial help to the players.
The team has also appealed to the hockey lovers to donate
generously in the charity account for helping the players in
need.
