Moradabad: Tamil Nadu and Railways bagged men`s and women`s titles respectively in the 62nd Senior National Volleyball Championship here on Sunday.
Tamil Nadu thrashed Uttarakhand in the men`s summit clash 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-14).
Naveen Raja Jacob and G R Vaishnav smashed the backbone of Uttarakhand defence in the first set. The second set saw explosive spikes by TN`s Jerome Vinit and Naveen.
Furious jump serves by Naveen gave no chance to Uttarakhand in the final set as last year`s runners-up Tamil Nadu ran away with the winners trophy.
Last edition champions Kerala finished third after defeating Services 3-2 (23-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-17, 25-10).
In the women`s final match, defending champions Railways hammered Kerala 3-1 (25-17, 25-10, 23-25, 25-21) to retain their title.
Captain Minimol Abraham and Soumya V their way to take the first set. Set two was again dominated by Railways as Minmol kept striking. Kerala fought back in third set as S Rekha attacked smartly.
Railways did not allow Kerala any further leeway in the fourth set and wrapped up the match and the title.
Tamil Nadu secured third place in women`s section by thrashing Haryana 3-0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-21).
