IPL 2012 -- It has had the most last over finishes, most last ball finishes in the IPL history and surprisingly almost all the team performed much more than what was expected of them. But along with those thrills, the cash-rich tourney has been marred with several controversies. Let’s have a look at a few of them that rocked the league.

IPL molestation charges against Luke Pomersbach

Chris Gayle had scored his third IPL ton and the RCB players attended a party hosted by team director Siddharth Mallya.

The party was hosted at the ITC Maurya Hotel. Australian player Luke Pomersbach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team was arrested for allegedly molesting an Indian American woman in a five-star hotel in the capital and beating up her fiancé.

The lady alleged Luke of molesting her and also said that RCB players threatened her to withdraw her complaint.

According to reports, Luke later accepted that he unintentionally touched the victim and when her fiance Sahil came to intervene, Luke lost his cool and punched him.

From the CCTV footage, the police have identified Appanna as one of the cricketers who returned with Luke to the victim`s hotel room. Appanna is suspected to have approached the victim after the match to withdraw the complaint.

The Don`s brawl at Wankhede

Soon after his team defeated the Mumbai Indians, Shahrukh Khan got into an ugly scuffle with the officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association. While the actor said that the officials were rude to him as he came to pick up his children, the officials complained that the actor was offensive under the influence of alcohol.

The MCA was quick to react to the situation as it banned the actor from the Wankhede Stadium for five years following the scuffle at the ground. The decision came after the star refused to apologize, rather said that it was he who owed an apology from the officials.

The final decision is yet to be taken by the BCCI, but the incident has evoked mixed response from all across the country. While some said that the 5-year-ban was too harsh for the actor who is also the co-owner of IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, the critics lashed out at the Don saying that a life ban should have been imposed on him as a lesson for others.

Sting operation that stunned IPL

What came as a huge blow for IPL’s goodwill, a leading television news channel claimed to have blown the lid off "murky deals" in the Indian Premier League among players, organisers, owners and big guns of Indian cricket. Soon after this news broke up, the BCCI said that stringent action will be taken if the report is found to be true.

After some investigations, the BCCI suspended Shalabh Srivastava, Mohnish Mishra, TP Sudhindra, Amit Yadav and Abhinav Bali with immediate effect pending inquiry.

Rave party row

Mumbai police busted a rave party at the Oakwood hotel in Mumbai on Sunday evening and two Pune Warriors India cricketers, Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell were among the 100 people who were detained and were taken to hospital for medical tests.

The police seized approximately 110 grams of cocaine along with MDMA, Ecstasy and charas from the spot. The people detained, mostly foreign nationals were taken into two hospitals for medical tests.

The leg-spinner said that he was there to attend a birthday party and in case if his tests are positive, he will quit cricket. He also defended Parnell saying that the South African was a decent guy which is why he chose to take him along to the party.

While a final say on the incident is yet to come, this incident once again rocked the IPL 2012, which has already been settling several dust of controversies.
