London: Wimbledon champion Andy Murray has insisted that he has recovered from his back injury and can still mount a title charge in the upcoming Australian Open.

With temperatures forecast to top 40 degrees celsius next week, the Scot will be able to play himself into his first Grand Slam since his back surgery last September, and he faces Japan`s Go Soeda in the first round and then a qualifier before tougher challenges ahead.

According to the Mirror, Murray said that his back feels `way better` than it did before the surgery, which is a good thing for him, although he admitted that just because he has not played any matches for four months, the rest of his body tends to hurt and stiffen up.

However, Murray expressed confidence about his playing in the first Grand Slam of the year, saying that stranger things have happened.
