New Delhi: Eighth-seeded Indian Rushmi
Chakravarthi produced a stunning straight-set victory over top
seed Poojashree Venkatesha to set up a summit clash with
compatriot Sanaa Bhambri in the USD 10,000 International
Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament, here today.
The 30-year-old Rushmi beat last week`s ITF Bangalore
winner Poojashree 6-4, 6-2 at the DLTA stadium here.
In another semifinal, seventh-seeded Sanaa survived a
scare from Chinese qualifier Sirui He before getting past her
rival 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(5) in a thrilling match.
Rushmi and Sanaa will square off tomorrow. The last time
the duo came across each other was in 2006 Ahmedabad ITF.
