 London: Spanish tennis ace David Ferrer believes Andy Murray is ready to make a grand slam breakthrough, after Murray beat him to reach his fourth successive Wimbledon semi-final.
The Scot came through a near four-hour battle against the ultra tough Spaniard 6-7 (5/7), 7-6 (8/6), 6-4, 7-6 (7/4) on Centre Court and will now be facing Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
“Of course Andy Murray has a chance to win Wimbledon. He`s an unbelievable player. He deserves to win a grand slam,” a daily quoted Ferrer, as saying.
World no. 4 seed Murray has equaled the tally with Tim Henman of getting to the semi-finals four times but never going further, but the hopes are even higher this year because the man on the other side of the net on Friday will not be two-time champion Rafael Nadal, who has beaten the Scot the past two years.
Murray`s other opportunity came three years ago, when he was 22 and the favourite to beat Andy Roddick only to lose to the American in four sets.
