Australian team legend Shane Warne was one of the first to hail his compatriot after he had taken a one-set lead against Nadal.
Glenn Maxwell, Steven Smith and Chris Lynn, three of Australia`s young cricketers too lauded Kyrgios`s effort.
Tim Cahill – the Australian football star who made headlines for his skills in the FIFA World Cup 2014, also praised the 19-year-old.
While renowned Australian cricketers wished Kyrgios, stylish Indian right-hander Virat Kohli, who is also a big football fan, too expressed his views on Twitter.
Prior to his win against Nadal, Kyrgios had defeated one famous player in Richard Gasquet. But his win against Nadal is a huge highlilght on his CV, and Australia would now expect Grand Slam titles from him in the years to come.
