Nitish's silence over Modi win deliberate

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's silence over the victory of Narendra Modi in the just concluded Gujarat polls might be 'deliberate', sources close to him said.

"When Nitish Kumar, leading the NDA registered landslide win in Bihar assembly polls in 2010 securing 206 seats out of total 243 marking 86 per cent of the seats Narendra Modi had not congratulated him," the sources said on condition of anonymity.

"Modi had not congratulated Kumar either directly or indirectly," they said.

Kumar's silence has triggered speculation whether it was deliberate and another instance of 'unfriendly' relationship between the two NDA strongmen.

When Kumar's reaction was sought by mediamen yesterday morning on the hattrick by Modi, he did not respond.

Kumar had not entertained similar question on December 20 evening too after the results were announced.

The silence maintained by Kumar has obviously not gone down well with BJP state leaders.

State BJP President C P Thakur had wondered why Kumar did not make the customary gesture of congratulating (Modi) which is common in public life.

Modi's supporter and state Animal Husbandry Minister Giriraj Singh said, "It is a routine practice that even a defeated candidate congratulates the winner in an election."

Modi and Congress run a mock political fight in Gujarat. Congress is so happy that Modi allows Congress leaders to take their cut in all the deals with big Corporates in Gujarat. As long as Corporates are happy they will use their Goonda forces along with Sunk Parivar and Congress goondas to ensure that their proxy rule continues in Gujarat. As long as people are fooled everyone is happy and people of Gujarat suffer with the worst living conditions with Human Development Index comparable to Bangladesh.

I dont thing the nitish is opposed to modi due to gujrat riots. As for hinduism is concerned modi, other bjp leaders and rss on same wavelength subtle or clear. No doubt majority of muslim are not expected to vote for bjp with or without modi stakes. But nitish as shrewed politician wants to consolidate his vote bank by opposing mdi in bihar but want to reach PM office through the Bjp wagon. This is his real woory bcz may be the driver of the wagon which terminates at office of PM of india.

Nitish is scared of Modi and that is why he can not speak. Modi can win any seat in Bihar any day. Nitish can be a Buddhu and so Laloo, but Biharis are not!

This is public posturing of Nitish to protect his the so called secular image. Nitish must be knowing that the JDU will not be able to win even 40% of seats without BJP. 10% of BJP votes in each constituency helps him win so many seats. If Nitish takes a tough stand, and BJP goes alone under the leadership of Modi BJP may win as many seats as JDU if not more. JDU with Congress will be suicidal for JDU - Congress unlike BJP works on the strategy of using the state level parties to its benefit and marginalise the partner. The past trends in different states proves it. They have done it with RJD, DMK, NCP, BSP, SP, Trinamool. JDU may get added to this list if Nitish decides to align with Congress. My assessment is that a large number of JDU winning candidates will simply walk over to BJP if Nitish decides to align with Congress. All the individual MLAs want to come back to power or be with a party which will remain in power. I am sure Nitish and his party understand this very well.

Nithish is biggest hypocrite in this world...to secure his so called muslim vote he can go to any level...if he has so problem with Modi then has he having support of ``communal`` BLP...God knows for how long these ``psudo-sceculers`` will do anything to protect their minority vote bank...

Nitish`s win in 2010 polls were not his alone. The elections were fought alonwith BJP and in these 206 seats Bjp also contrbuted about 96.Then durin his regime there have been riots and lot of peace disturbed, while Modi in the last ten years is having the best of administration and riotless. There cannot be any similarity between the two. For good administration Modi is far ahead of Nitish.

Raj - Gurgaon
Do we need to compare the two? Though its commendable that Mr Kumar has brought about a change in Bihar, it does not give him the right to be the judge of secularism. He knows very well that he is in a win win situation either way by siding with BJP or Congress either. Both the major parties have political compulsions. However if BJP wants to remain connected with their own supporters, then I think they will have to take a call between Kumar and Modi. Most likely it will be Modi if better sense prevails!
