Police made a lathicharge to disperse DMK workers who indulged in violence outside a court premises here where party leader M K Stalin appeared on Monday in connection with a defamation case filed by AIADMK Government.

More than 6000 DMK workers were arrested in Coimbaotre, Tirupur and Nilgiris districts as part of a `fill-the-jail` protest against AIADMK government which has "foisted cases" against its cadres.
