Nishane Pe

Chargesheeted Leaders. Undertrial Ministers. Representatives in Jail. Leaders across parties accused of a variety of crimes and misdemeanours from forgery to loot, from murdering political opponents to inciting riots. We keep hearing of the nexus between the underworld and politicians, as well the link between various business interests and political leaders. In India it is easy to accuse, difficult to bring a case, and impossible to convict.
In a modern India where the law believes that a person is innocent until proven guilty, how do we, the citizens, react to these accusations? How do we judge innocence and guilt? Do we presume guilt –even if it is not proven, or do we wait for the courts to decide – and for how long? And what about the political leader? Is it possible that they are innocent of the charges levelled at them?
Nishane Pe is a show that talks to politicians who have been accused of various crimes, and asks them to respond to the charges. They come face to face with a panel of citizens who grill them on the accusations, while politicians get a chance to defend their name.
The show is hosted by Bollywood star Ashutosh Rana
