New Delhi: With the government standing firm on the decision to divide Andhra Pradesh, TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday asked President Pranab Mukherjee to use his powers to "sort out the problems amicably."

Naidu also said he had not gone back from his party's 2008 politburo resolution supporting the formation of a seaparate Telangana state but asserted that "equal justice" be done to both the regions.

"I am not going back from my politburo decision.... But I am saying that the resolution is very clear--equal justice has to be done," he told reporters.

The TDP chief said both the sides--Seemandhra and Telangana--should win from the bifurcation process.

"There should not be any loser. Both sides have to win. It is very sensitive and very delicate issue. So approach very carefully," Naidu said and accused Congress President Sonia Gandhi of dividing the people of the state on the issue.

"President of India has all powers. Call both the regions... Stakeholders... So that a suitable mechanism can be established. And direct government of India to sort out the problems amicably," the TDP chief said.

Naidu alleged the "first culprit of this episode" is Congress and said Gandhi has never spoken to the media on this issue.

"Sonia Gandhi never addressed one press conference on this issue. Why? You created the problem. You don't have the responsibilities to solve the problems?," he said.

"Even Rahul Gandhi. Future Prime Minister. You haven't told the people why you are doing all these things," Naidu said and accused the Congress leadership of failing to arrive at a "consensus" before going ahead with bifurcation decision.

"They (Congress) don't have any right to rule this country," he said.

Naidu, who met several leaders including BJP's LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and Rajnath Singh on the issue, said the NDA government had smoothly given three states--Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Uttarakhand-- after taking all stakeholders into confidence.

"You have to convince people. Otherwise, cannot go ahead. All these things are done for political gains," he added.
