Raipur: After dropping hints about planning to quit the BJP, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's niece Karuna Shukla on Saturday resigned from the party.
Shukla caused major embarrassment to the BJP in the poll-bound Chhattisgarh by joining the Congress. She cited reasons that the party's senior leader continuously ignored her.
She told reporters that by being continuously neglected in the party she was "deeply hurt". Shukla, a former Lok Sabha MP, has sent her resignation to BJP President Rajnath Singh.
Shukla also a former national president of BJP Mahila Morcha, said, for past few years she was not even consulted on party's affair was even refused audience by the BJP senior leaders.
Her supporters said that she was dissatisfied of being side-lined in the party.
Chhattisgarh will go to two-phase polls on November 11 and 19.
