Shimla: Heavy rains lashed lower and mid hills of Himachal Pradesh as monsoon intensified in the region. The heavy rains threw life out of gear in Sirmaur, Kangra, Mandi and parts of Una districts causing sharp fall in maximum temperatures.
According to MeT office, Renuka in Sirmaur district received 300 mm of rains while Paonta Sahib, Sangrah and Nahan recorded 126 mm, 82 mm and 56 mm rains causing landslides in interior areas.
Kangra, Guler, Dehra Gopipur and Palampur were drenched with 152 mm,145 mm, 139 mm and 107 mm rains while Una and Bharwara received 130 mm and 119 mm of rains.
Baijnath recorded 90 mm rains while Pandoh and Mandi had 89 mm and 84 mm rains followed by Nagrota Suriyan 77 mm, Jogindernagar 71 mm, Nahan 56 and Dharamsala 48 mm.
Manmohan Singh, Director local MeT office said monsoon has intensified and it would remain hyper-active till July 18 and heavy rains at isolated places would continue till July 22.
The heavy rains would also help in covering the deficit which was 43 per cent in June and 40 per cent in first fortnight of July.
The maximum day temperature plummeted to 30.0 degrees Celsius form 36.6 degrees C after heavy rains while Dharamsala recorded a high of 30.2 degrees C, followed by Sundernagar 27.1 degrees C, Solan 25.5 degrees C, Nahan 25.0 degrees C, Shimla 24.1 degrees C, Manali 20.0 degrees C and Kalpa 19.4 degrees C, a drop of three to five degrees.
Minimum temperatures remained steady and Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of 14.4 degrees C, followed by Keylong 15.5 degrees C, Nahan 17.0 degrees C, Shimla 17.7 degrees C, Dharamsala 19.2 degrees C, Palampur and Bhuntar 19.5 degrees C and Una 24.8 degrees C.
