Jammu: After a fierce gunbattle, the security forces yesterday killed at least seven dreaded terrorists in the Kupwara district of north Kashmir and a massive hunt is on other militants holed up in the area, reports said on Tuesday.
Security forces launched a "cordon and search" operation in the forest area of Lolab in Kupwara district yesterday afternoon after getting information about the presence of militants there.
The gun battle started after the militants opened fire on security forces drawing retaliation.
After several hours of exchange of gunfire, at least seven terrorists were killed.
