Ajit Pawar reviews water situation in Nashik division

Nashik: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Monday reviewed the water scarcity situation in the Nashik revenue division which comprises districts of Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Nandurbar and Ahmednagar.

The meeting was attended by collectors, divisional commissioner, heads of concerned departments and others.

Due to lack of rains, sowing operations have not progressed at all, while the water stock in the division is down to 17 per cent, officials said.

PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal and tribal development minister Madhukar Pichad were also present. Pawar said that while 171 water tankers had been alloted in Nashik district, as many as 293 tankers were operating in Ahmednagar, where water scarcity was severe.

Pawar also reviewed preparations for 2015-16 Kumbh Mela which would be held in the city.
