Thane: Residents of the tribal-dominated Jawhar region of the district complained about hearing "mysterious underground sound" a few times early Wednesday morning, sources said.
"Loud sounds were heard today by the Jawhar residents at about 6.35 AM and then two times around 9 am. Similar sound had been heard in August last year," a police officer from Jawhar said.
The local residents rushed out of their houses after hearing these sound, the officer said.
"Even though the sound was not very loud, it created panic among the residents," Vikramgadh MLA Chintaman Wanga said from Jawhar.
The concerned civic and district authorities have been alerted about the incident, in which no damage was reported.
