New Delhi: In an interesting turn of events, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here, three days after he was booed at a rally in his presence forcing him not to share dais with him.
PM Modi appeared to reach out to the Haryana CM by inviting him over a cup of tea.
Hooda met Modi at his residence and discussed development issues relating to the state.
"The Haryana Chief Minister was invited by the Prime Minister for tea and he went to meet him to uphold the dignity of the office of the Prime Minister. A lot of discussion took place including issues concerning Haryana's development," Hooda's Media Adviser Shiv Bhattia told a news agency.
It was not know whether the issue of hooting cropped up during the short meeting.
The meeting comes three days after Hooda, a Congress leader, was left fuming as a hostile crowd hooted at a function in Modi's presence in Kaithal in Haryana.
Upset at the jeering, Hooda had said he will not attend any function of the Prime Minister or union ministers if the Haryana BJP leadership did not change its attitude.
The Congress and the BJP had on Thursday sparred over heckling faced by chief ministers at official functions addressed by the Prime Minister.
The Congress termed the heckling "orchestrated" while the Bharatiya Janata Party described the sloganeering as a reflection of unpopularity of incumbent governments.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan had on Wednesday said he will not attend the foundation stone laying of the Nagpur metro rail project by Modi.
Chavan said there was a possibility of ruckus by BJP workers as it happened in Haryana.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also faced some awkward moments on Thursday as BJP activists raised slogans hailing Modi while he was speaking in the presence of the Prime Minister at a function.
