Berhampur: Two Maoist supporters, allegedly acting as couriers of Odisha Maobadi Party (OMP) chief Sabyasachi Panda, were arrested from a jungle in Ganjam district, police said on Monday.

Pabitra Mohan Pradhan of Madhapur village in Nayagarh district and Babula Mallick of Katringia village of Kandhamal district, were picked up by police from Rangamatia forest near Goudagotha village yesterday, Ganjam Superintendent of Police, Ashish Kumar Singh said.

Some explosives, Maoist literature, letters and medicines were seized from duo, SP said.

Although they have no case of the violent activities in their names, police suspected the duo was acting as the couriers of the Maoist leader.

Pradhan was suspected to be carrying the letters of Mili Panda, wife of Sabyasachi to the Maoist leader, police said.

On the basis of intelligence inputs, police watched the activities of Pradhan and Mallick for past few months and finally arrested the duo, police added.
