Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Thursday accused BJP state president Vasundhara Raje of misleading people by making false promises during her Suraj Sankalp Yatra ahead of the Assembly polls.
Lashing out at Raje, Gehlot said her promise to abolish Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), if voted to power, was a wrong commitment as the process to do away with TET was not in the hands of state government as the provision of TET was made in Act passed by Parliament and cannot be amended by the state.
"She is misleading people by making promises which cannot be fulfilled," Gehlot told reporters here.
He said that the Raje, before she became chief minister in 2003, also promised Gujjars to give them reservation but the promise could not be fulfilled which led to an agitation by the community during her regime.
Meanwhile, Raje, in her public meetings in Sikar, sought support of people to form next government with a promise of development.
"The urban-rural divide is increasing and there is development neither in cities nor in villages.
"People are migrating to cities but our government would give priority to urban as well as rural development," she said.
