PM Narendra Modi addresses DRDO scientists, stresses on innovation and technology

New Delhi: Speaking at an award function organised by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the scientists of India for their commendable work.

He tweeted the same :



He also pushed the scientists involved in defence research to complete their projects well before experts in other nations do.

"I see that the big challenge is how we complete our work before time. If the world will finish something in 2020, can we do it by 2018?"

Recognising the need for innovation and highlighting the importance of technology he said, "World is changing very fast and technology is going to play a key role going forward.Parameters of war are changing; the idea is to keep innovating."

"There is need for ingenuity in defence research and working at a faster pace to make India global leaders. DRDO scientists should come out with innovative ideas to make life more comfortable for jawans," Modi said. "We need labs in India which utilize raw talent, which employ people only below the age of 35," he added.

Emphasising on the value of education, he stressed upon the importance of more and more universities in this field which will help students.

The prime minister also gave away the DRDO awards, with former chief controller of research and development Dipankar Banerjee getting a life time achievement award for his contribution to the fields of metallurgy, material sciences and combat aircraft programme.
