Puducherry: A batch of 72 tourists, including
around 35 foreigners travelling by 'Golden Chariot' tourist
train launched under the banner 'Southern Splendour' by
Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation connecting all
southern states, arrived here to a warm reception of artistes.
Tourism Secretary Choleti Prabhakar accorded a warm
reception to the tourists, who are now on a journey from
Bangalore to visit southern States'.
An official release said the Karnataka government
introduced the super luxury train, "ranked among the top seven
super luxury trains in the world'. It is on its maiden run and
after visiting Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, would return
to Bangalore.
The train was flagged off by Karnataka Tourism Minister at
Bangalore a few days ago and visited Chennai yesterday before
reaching Puducherry.
Managing Director of Karnataka Tourism Development
Corporation Vinay Luthra briefed Prabhakar on the highlights
of the programme.
The tourists would visit Aurobindo Ashram, Auroville
International township and also the "French town" here during
their day long stay here before leaving at night.
