Pondicherry: More than 1500 workers of
Pondicherry government owned Agro Services and Industries
Corporation (PASIC) courted arrest when they staged a road
roko near here today to press their charter of demands, police
said.
They were demanding, among other things, disbursement of
wages due to them for the last five months,police said.
Police including members of India Reserve Battalion (a
standby police force sanctioned by the Centre for Puducherry)
were deployed on duty at the site to ensure that there was no
disruption of traffic.
The arrested were shifted to the police barracks on Subbiah
salai, police said.
