Another reshuffle in UP; 44 PPS officers transferred

Lucknow: In yet another major reshuffle in the wake of criticism of the law and order situation, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday transferred 44 PPS officers.

According to home department spokesman, the government has transferred 44 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers of the rank of DySPs.

The districts affected by today's transfers are Allahabad, Varanasi, Meerut, Sitapur, Ghazipur, Kannauj, Gonda, Maharajganj, Azamgarh, Ballia, Fatehpur, Rampur, Kheri, Ambedkarnagar, Faizabad, Bahraich, Basti, Barabanki, Kanpur and Etawah.

Uttar Pradesh government had yesterday transferred 36 IAS officers, including former Principal Secretary (home) Anil Kumar Gupta who was shunted to a less important post.

The government had on Saturday last transferred 42 IPS officers of the rank of IGs, DIGs and district police chiefs.
