Kolkata: Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Tuesday made a surprise visit to the state-run SSKM hospital here to see if patients were receiving proper medical care, taking doctors and family members of patients by surprise.
She also went round the fair price medicine shops in the vicinity of the hospital.
The visit was a part of her effort to get a first hand understanding of the infrastructure of the hospital considered the best referral institute in the state, officials said.
She talked to the families of the patients and met the hospital administration.
